BeerSelect expands in WDPort of Ghent

BeerSelect, the young and upcoming Ghent-based group brewery, is ready for another expansion thanks to a 15 million euro investment. The future property, based at Port of Ghent, will be 10,000 m² large and boasts a brewing capacity of five million liters. The brews will be expedited in innovative and sustainable packaging – think: 44 cl cans and cardboard blisters for tin packaging, a first in Belgium. The new site will create 15 new jobs in the next 18 months.

Bottoms Up: 44 cl cans and sustainable cardboard can packaging

The new site has a lot to offer the country’s better beer afficionado’s. A new and high-tech filling line will capitalize on retail trends with the production of innovative and sustainable packaging. From filling 44 cl cans and higher “sleek & slim” ones, to filling glass screw cap bottles, you name it.

The site will also be equipped with a tunnel pasteurizer, specifically designed for pasteurizing non-alcoholic beers. In addition, BeerSelect will be the first Belgian company to machine-place carboard blisters over cans. Now, that’s a conscious and ecological choice for the future!

Sustainable love for premium beer

The Ghent-based brewery led by Wout Meuleman, Kasper Peeters and Mathieu Deschuyter doubles down on its sustainability mission with a completely plastic-free production process. The new site will be 12 meters high, with a water treatment installation and an efficient solar farm on the roof.  “Our mindset remains the same”, Wout Meuleman, BeerSelect’s CEO says. “We’re still the same passionate beer lovers with an eye for flavor innovation, helping small brewers develop, produce and commercialize their own quality brews. We’re so proud we’re able to support our customers in winning awards and medals – they’ve won 14 this year alone! That’s what we do it for, and I’m excited to expand our team of beer geeks to a solid 40 members by 2025. That’s what you call tasty entrepreneurship!”
