A dedicated sportsman and innovative CFO.

When you think of a CFO, usually images of Excel spreadsheets, accounting columns, and a sense of boredom come to mine, but you’d never think that if you knew Mickael Van den hauwe. The endurance athlete comes strolling onto the Economy Campus in Leuven as if he were just another student. He’s going to be guest lecturing there.

The goal is to make young people realise how intrinsically the financial aspect is intertwined with operational management.

It’s not just about audits and checks & balances; it’s also about developing solutions. Financial management no longer means staying on the side lines. It’s actively brainstorming with the rest so that specific constructions and projects are given the very best chance to succeed.

More and more, Mick is seeing that modern financial management isn’t just about providing policy support to the CEO, but that the added value focuses primarily and consistently on achieving solutions, which makes the company’s commercial side even more dynamic. And dynamics are why he does things, whether it’s on the saddle of a bicycle, running through the hills, or working in WDP’s offices.
