JLL’s vision for future challenges

The technological evolution is creating major challenges for the logistics sector. We asked our stakeholders how they would tackle these and what their vision for the future is.

For example, we spoke with Mathieu Opsomer, manager for East and West Flanders within the Industrial and Logistics Department at JLL. As an investment broker and adviser, JLL offers a wide range of services, such as research, facility management, valuations, sustainability projects, redevelopment projects, etc. It is one of the major players on the commercial real estate market.

“As a broker, we want to continue to help our customers, both the owners and users, as quickly as possible,” says Mathieu Opsomer. “To do this, we look at our customer’s priorities and needs and we will try to provide solutions that are as flexible as possible.”

According to Mathieu, the challenges for the logistics sector are obvious: “It’s already common knowledge that e-commerce will pose a major challenge. However, in my opinion, the biggest problem is the connection to the ring roads in Antwerp, Ghent, and Brussels.”

How can logistics companies best prepare for the technological evolution? “By trying to learn as much as possible from each other and by harmonising with one another,” believes Mathieu.
