Meet Jurgen Ingels, new board member at WDP

Tech entrepreneur, Jurgen Ingels, joined WDP at the beginning of 2018. His intention? Increase the strength of WDP at a technological level. But we want to get to know the person behind the entrepreneur, so we asked him to tell us something more about himself, what drives him, and his plans.

Most people know Jurgen as the founder of Clear2Pay or as one of the jury members in the Flemish TV programme, De Leeuwenkuil, in which start-up entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to a panel of business leaders. His innate fascination with technology was already in evidence the day he took apart his father’s new Commodore 64 computer, and it has not stopped growing since. Nevertheless, as a Pol & Soc student, he aspired to a job as a minister or diplomat. Fortunately, Jurgen realised in time that a knack for mathematics and efficiency are also excellent qualities for an entrepreneur.

Win time with technology

Jurgen Ingels: “Why my interest in technology? I always look for the most efficient way of working. This is necessary if, like me, you do a lot of business at the same time. Technology helps me to be efficient and ensures I can win time. Companies must also embrace technology for these same reasons. After all, at the end of the day, it is not about the company with the most employees or the largest capital. It is about the company that wins time with the best technology.”

The digital world of tomorrow

According to Jurgen, the Benelux, in comparison to other countries, is still catching up in terms of revolutionary technology. Fortunately for WDP, he has a good eye: “WDP belongs to an interesting segment because, in the future, the logistics processes of companies will only become ‘smarter’ and gain importance. My challenge is therefore to familiarise WDP with the digital world of tomorrow. I sincerely believe that by focusing on smart buildings, WDP can make a difference for customers and become a market leader.”
