WDP celebrates Luxembourg logistics hotspot this week

There’s a lot to celebrate at Eurohub Sud, a very promising logistics hub in Luxembourg, this week. For example, the new access bridge to reach this logistics hotspot was officially inaugurated, WDP opened a second building of 25,000 m² for Auchan and Innovation First there, and works on a third warehouse began.

The road to the Luxembourg logistics hotspot is open

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Etienne Schneider officially inaugurated the new Eurohub Sud (Bettembourg-Dudelange) logistics hub access bridge on 20 September. This has completely opened up the road to this very promising logistical location.

Eurohub Sud’s greatest asset is its proximity to a multimodal, inland terminal that will facilitate combined transport to and from major European ports and important industrial centres. The Port of Mertert and the Luxembourg airport, one of the major cargo airports in Europe, are also allowing logistics service providers to develop their activities at this hub.

Second WDP property at Eurohub Sud open

Naturally, WDP has had an eye on this interesting logistics hub for some time now. Last year, we purchased 25,000 m² of existing, newly-built warehouse space for Ampacet. This week, we announced the opening of a second 25,000-m² building. Retailer Auchan and robotics and rack specialist Innovation First will move into this brand-new distribution centre soon and continue to grow stronger there over the next fifteen and ten years, respectively.

Third WDP building in the pipelines

Because WDP sees even more potential in Eurohub Sud, we also broke ground on a third 25,000-m² new-build warehouse this week; 15,000 m² of this has already been let to a Luxembourg specialised logistics service provider for the next fifteen years. The delivery of this warehouse, in which approximately 22 million euros has been invested, is planned for the end of 2019. There’s also a big chance that the remaining 40% will also be pre-let by that point, given that WDP Luxembourg[1] is in full development and the expansion is right on schedule thanks to the close collaboration with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
